Today the kids had a chance to practice writing their names in shaving cream.
We are practicing letter writing from left to right.
Take some time and practice with your child at home.
You will be impressed by how much they know and remember!
You can practice in the bathtub writing with soap or bath crayons.
Get creative and the next time you are baking and there is flour all over the counter let them practice writing their names.
They love writing in the sand, or even in the air!
This is great for their tactile sensation, kinesthetic learning, and gross motor movement.
So dive in a get moving for learning!

:: Stella Luna Farms ::

Today the Sierra High Preschool Co-Op
travelled to Auberry's very own C.S.A. (Community Supported Agriculture)

Stella Luna Farms is run by one of the Preschool Co-Op's very own families,
Chris & Jamie!

While at the farm students; sorted seeds, planted lima beans to watch sprout, made a kazoo from recyclable materials, mixed chocolate milk and made butter while observing "Missy Moo," and toured the "one organism" farm.

Lots of information for the kids and adults!
Thanks to all the parents who helped out, and a big THANK YOU to Chris & Jamie for opening up Stella Luna Farm for our classes!

Welcome Back!

The school year has officially begun and we are off to a great start! Our enrollment is encouraging and it has been a delight to reconnect with families and meet new faces!

Please be patient as we transition for a more structured schedule. Your little one is getting back into gear and there are a lot of new things for them to learn and remember. You will see things falling into place if you are consistent in bringing them to class. This along with your positive encouragement and support gives them the best opportunity to learn and grow from this cooperative experience.

Our first parent meeting is a required meeting held at the preschool on September 21 @ 6pm. Please, parents only, and bring your favorite appetizer to share and something for yourself to drink.

A few quick reminders:

*Please remember that when I have the students in circle time, any parents that are signed up to work that day should be preparing the craft, cleaning tables, and organizing/cleaning the toys.

*If you are bringing extra children or younger siblings to class please be advised of the following changes:
1. You will need to provide your own snacks and drinks for the extra children.
2. Younger siblings will not be allowed into the classroom during circle time. This is an opportunity for the student's to share and focus on listening skills alongside their letter identification. Younger siblings are often a distraction and need to stay in the play area under your supervision during this time. Thank you for your understanding.

*You might have noticed by the parent workstation a "Giving Tree." There are apples hanging from the tree indicating supplies that we are out of or might be running low. This is set up so that you can see what supplies are needed to help our classroom operate smoothly. At your earliest convenience, please purchase 1 bag of playsand from your local hardware store for our sandbox area.

Thanks for all of your work already! Remember, this is a PARENT RUN cooperative preschool. We thrive on encouragement and working together to make this the best environment for your child.
